A briefly published GTA 6 PEGI rating has provided an unusually detailed look at the mature content Rockstar Games is preparing for Grand Theft Auto VI.
The listing classified the game PEGI 18, which will surprise virtually nobody familiar with the series. What attracted attention was the amount of detail included in the accompanying description.
According to the now-removed page, GTA 6 contains frequent drug use, graphic violence, dismemberment, decapitation, sexual content and gambling.
Some of those descriptions also reveal potential gameplay mechanics.
The most interesting example involves drugs. Cocaine reportedly exists as an inventory item that players can use directly rather than encountering it exclusively during a scripted mission.
The Detailed PEGI Page Was Quickly Removed
There is an important qualification surrounding the information.
The detailed GTA 6 age rating appeared on PEGI’s website before being taken down. Copies and descriptions of its contents circulated before the page disappeared.
PEGI has not publicly explained why the detailed listing was removed.
That means the information should be described carefully. The page existed and its contents were reported by multiple outlets, but Rockstar has not independently explained every mechanic mentioned in it.
The deletion also does not automatically mean the information was inaccurate.
Rating information can occasionally appear earlier than intended. Until PEGI republishes the full description or Rockstar discusses the systems directly, however, some context remains missing.
Drug Use Is Described as Frequent and Prominent
One of the clearest details concerns drug use in GTA 6.
The PEGI description reportedly characterized drug use as frequent and prominent throughout the game.
Cocaine is specifically mentioned.
More importantly, players can apparently carry the substance in their inventory and use it during gameplay. That suggests drug consumption is not limited to a single mission, cutscene or fixed location.
Grand Theft Auto has dealt with drugs for decades. Trafficking and organized crime have regularly formed part of its stories, while GTA 5 included limited opportunities for protagonists to consume substances.
An inventory-based mechanic would give the player considerably more control.
Rockstar has not yet explained what cocaine actually does. It could affect visuals, character behaviour or statistics, but none of those possibilities should be treated as confirmed until the studio provides more information.
GTA 6 Can Feature Decapitation and Dismemberment
The deleted rating also provides information about GTA 6’s violence system.
Combat is described as bloody and realistic, with certain weapons capable of causing severe injuries.
Those injuries reportedly include dismemberment and decapitation.
That would represent a noticeable increase in physical damage detail compared with GTA 5.
The obvious comparison is Red Dead Redemption 2. Rockstar’s western featured a far more elaborate damage model, with different weapons producing different visible injuries.
GTA 6 could be applying some of that design experience to a contemporary setting.
However, the rating description does not establish how frequently the most graphic outcomes occur. Their presence may depend on particular weapons or circumstances.
Violence Against Animals Is Also Possible
Leonida’s wildlife is covered by the classification as well.
Players can reportedly harm animals, although the violence against them is described as less detailed than violence involving human characters.
This matters because GTA 6 reportedly features more than 170 animal species.
Alligators, flamingos, monkeys, sharks, dolphins, manatees and numerous other animals have already been identified across Rockstar’s promotional material and recent coverage.
Some creatures can also be tracked, while categories such as Rare, Discoverable and Legendary suggest wildlife will have a broader role in exploration.
Rockstar appears to be carrying some of Red Dead Redemption 2’s ecosystem philosophy into Leonida.
Nudity and Sexual Content Remain Part of GTA
The PEGI description also references nudity and sexual content.
Strip clubs return, continuing a long-established feature of Grand Theft Auto. Private dances reportedly include physical interaction between the player character and dancers.
None of this represents a dramatic change in subject matter for Rockstar.
The difference is presentation.
GTA 6 has been developed for much newer hardware than the systems GTA 5 originally targeted in 2013. Character models, facial animation, clothing and environments are substantially more detailed.
As a result, familiar GTA themes can be portrayed with considerably greater visual realism.
Casino Gambling Appears in the Rating
The listing also reportedly identifies gambling in GTA 6.
Players can participate in casino-style activities using in-game currency.
Gambling has appeared in the franchise before. GTA: San Andreas made casinos an important part of Las Venturas, while GTA Online later introduced the Diamond Casino & Resort.
Its inclusion in GTA 6 therefore fits Rockstar’s established design history.
The rating does not provide enough information to determine exactly which casino games will be playable or how extensive the system will become.
In-Game Purchases Are Mentioned, but Context Is Missing
Another descriptor refers to in-game purchases.
That wording will inevitably attract attention because GTA Online has become an enormous business for Rockstar and Take-Two.
However, the descriptor alone does not confirm microtransactions inside GTA 6’s single-player campaign.
It may relate to an online component or another purchasing system associated with the overall product.
Without further information from Rockstar, anything more specific would be speculation.
The Rating Reveals More Than Rockstar Probably Intended
The PEGI 18 classification itself tells players very little they could not already predict.
Grand Theft Auto 6 was always going to be an adult game.
The value of the deleted description comes from the smaller details hidden inside it.
Cocaine being carried through an inventory suggests a more flexible interaction system. Dismemberment points toward more detailed combat. Gambling adds another free-roam activity, while the descriptions of wildlife and adult venues reinforce how many systems Rockstar is building beyond traditional missions.
That fits the broader picture emerging around GTA 6’s open world.
Leonida is not simply larger than Los Santos. Rockstar appears determined to give players more things to touch, use, discover and interact with throughout the world.
PEGI may have removed the detailed page, but the information had already escaped.
And unexpectedly, an age-rating description has become another source of clues about how GTA 6 will actually play.
