GTA 6 may dominate 2026, but fresh comments surrounding Rockstar Games suggest the franchise could have another enormous year immediately afterward.
Two of the biggest unanswered questions surrounding Grand Theft Auto VI concern its eventual PC release and the future of GTA Online. Rockstar has remained remarkably quiet about both.
That silence has not completely stopped information from emerging.
Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has again emphasized the growing importance of the PC market to the company, offering another encouraging sign for players waiting for GTA 6 beyond consoles.
Meanwhile, Twitch CEO Dan Clancy has indicated that Rockstar’s next multiplayer experience is expected to arrive in 2027.
Neither development amounts to an official Rockstar announcement. However, together they provide an intriguing glimpse at what could follow GTA 6’s console debut.
Take-Two Says PC Is Becoming Increasingly Important
The most encouraging comments for PC players come from Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick.
Speaking about the publisher’s platform strategy, Zelnick reiterated that Take-Two targets platforms where it sees a meaningful audience. He also stressed that PC has become increasingly important to the business.
For GTA fans, the implication is obvious.
Rockstar has still only confirmed GTA 6 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. There is currently no official GTA 6 PC release date, store listing or system requirements.
Zelnick’s comments do not change that.
They do, however, make it increasingly difficult to imagine Rockstar permanently ignoring one of gaming’s largest markets.
Rockstar Has Made PC Players Wait Before
A delayed PC version would follow Rockstar’s established release strategy.
GTA V launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013. PC players did not receive their version until April 2015.
Red Dead Redemption 2 followed a similar pattern. The game reached consoles in October 2018 before arriving on PC in November 2019.
Rockstar often uses the additional development period to adapt its games specifically for PC hardware rather than simply launching every platform simultaneously.
That can mean higher graphical settings, expanded resolution options and other technical improvements.
Whether GTA 6 follows exactly the same schedule remains unknown.
A 2027 PC launch is certainly plausible based on Rockstar’s history, but it has not been announced and should not be treated as confirmed.
Twitch CEO Points to GTA 6 Multiplayer in 2027
The multiplayer situation is more unusual.
Twitch CEO Dan Clancy recently discussed conversations his company has held with Rockstar about GTA 6 and the enormous amount of streaming activity expected around the game.
Clancy predicted a major increase in Twitch activity when GTA 6 launches. He then suggested an even larger increase would follow next year when Rockstar launches multiplayer.
With the console game arriving in November 2026, that statement points directly toward GTA 6 multiplayer launching in 2027.
It is a striking comment because Rockstar itself has not announced a date for its next online experience.
Clancy’s position also gives the remark additional weight. Twitch has obvious reasons to communicate with Rockstar about a multiplayer product likely to become one of the platform’s biggest games for streamers.
Still, it is not an official Rockstar confirmation.
GTA 6 Is Currently Being Sold as a Single-Player Experience
Rockstar’s current marketing is focused firmly on the single-player game.
Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos sit at the center of the story, with the pair becoming trapped in a wider criminal conspiracy after a score goes wrong.
The official material released so far concentrates on their relationship and the enormous state of Leonida.
Rockstar has not detailed a multiplayer component in its trailers or Extended Look.
That creates an interesting contrast with GTA V, where GTA Online followed the original game only weeks after launch.
If Clancy’s comments prove accurate, GTA 6 players could face a considerably longer wait before Rockstar launches its next major multiplayer experience.
A Longer Gap Could Be Deliberate
Separating single-player and multiplayer would have several potential advantages.
First, it would allow Rockstar to keep attention firmly on Jason and Lucia when GTA 6 arrives.
Players could explore Leonida, complete the story and become familiar with the world before the multiplayer economy begins competing for their time.
Rockstar would also gain additional development time.
GTA Online has grown far beyond the relatively simple multiplayer experience that accompanied GTA V. It now includes businesses, properties, heists, vehicles, social spaces and years of accumulated systems.
A successor has enormous expectations to meet.
Launching it separately could reduce pressure on Rockstar to have every online system ready alongside the main game.
Existing GTA Online Is Not Disappearing Immediately
Another important detail is that Take-Two has indicated the existing GTA Online will continue to be supported after GTA 6 arrives.
That suggests Rockstar is not planning to simply shut down the current game the moment Leonida becomes available.
There are practical reasons for that.
GTA Online has an established player base, years of purchased content and an enormous library of activities. Immediately forcing those players into a replacement could create unnecessary disruption.
Keeping the current version operating would also give Rockstar more freedom when launching its next multiplayer project.
The new experience would not need to replace everything overnight.
PC and Multiplayer Could Make 2027 Another Massive GTA Year
The interesting possibility is that Rockstar’s major post-launch plans could converge.
If a GTA 6 PC version arrives in 2027 and the next multiplayer experience launches during the same year, Rockstar could effectively create a second major wave of GTA 6 interest after the initial console release.
That would make commercial sense.
The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions establish the game first. PC then expands the audience, while multiplayer provides existing players with a major reason to return.
Rockstar has used staggered releases successfully before, particularly with GTA V.
However, there is currently no evidence confirming that the PC and multiplayer launches will happen together.
They should be treated as separate possibilities until Rockstar provides its own roadmap.
Rockstar Still Holds the Answers
The picture is becoming clearer, but several important details remain unresolved.
Take-Two’s leadership is openly acknowledging the importance of PC, yet Rockstar has not formally announced GTA 6 for PC.
Twitch’s CEO has pointed toward multiplayer arriving in 2027, yet Rockstar has not announced the mode, its name, its business model or its release date.
Even the popular label “GTA Online 2” remains a fan description rather than an official title.
That distinction matters.
Rockstar has traditionally revealed information on its own schedule, and GTA 6 has been no exception.
What can be said with confidence is that the November console launch may represent only the beginning of Rockstar’s plans for Leonida.
PC remains an obvious future market, while Clancy’s comments offer the clearest public indication yet that a new multiplayer experience could follow in 2027.
If both eventually materialize next year, GTA 6 will not simply dominate its launch window. Rockstar could be preparing to stretch its biggest release across two consecutive years.
Grand Theft Auto VI launches November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. A PC version and 2027 multiplayer launch have not yet been officially confirmed by Rockstar Games.
