Rockstar Games is only days away from presenting its next official look at GTA 6, but the internet is already filling in some of the gaps. A new wave of unauthorized material has reportedly exposed gameplay, locations and sections of the GTA 6 map shortly before the game’s major Netflix presentation.
The material is associated with an online source using the name CyberLeek. Since the releases began, numerous clips and images claiming to come from Grand Theft Auto VI have circulated across social media and gaming communities.
Some of the footage shows relatively ordinary activities, including driving and character interactions. Other material is more revealing, particularly images that appear to identify previously unknown parts of Leonida.
The timing could hardly be more inconvenient for Rockstar. Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on August 27, giving the studio its opportunity to present the game on its own terms.
New GTA 6 Map Leak Reveals More of Leonida
One of the biggest discoveries involves the alleged GTA 6 Leonida map.
Rockstar has already established Leonida as the fictional state containing Vice City and numerous surrounding regions. Official trailers have shown beaches, highways, wetlands and smaller communities, suggesting a considerably broader setting than the city itself.
The leaked material appears to add more names to that geography.
One image reportedly identifies Dalton Island. Additional map fragments have referenced locations including Tequesta Retreat, Gloriana Key and Catalan Key.
Another image has been presented as a much wider view of the complete GTA 6 map, although leaked development material should always be treated carefully. Rockstar has not publicly confirmed every location visible in these images.
Place names can also change during development. Areas may be redesigned, renamed or removed before release.
Still, the material offers another indication that Leonida could be geographically diverse.
Vice City Is Only Part of GTA 6’s World
The return of Vice City naturally dominates GTA 6 marketing. Rockstar’s fictional interpretation of Miami remains one of the most recognizable locations in Grand Theft Auto history.
However, the new leaks reinforce something official footage has already suggested: GTA 6 is not simply a modern remake of the old Vice City map.
Leonida appears designed as a larger state containing urban centers, islands, coastal settlements, wetlands and highways connecting different communities.
This wider structure could give Rockstar more freedom to vary the pace of exploration. Dense city streets can sit alongside open roads and rural landscapes, creating distinct environments without requiring separate maps.
Fans may be surprised by how much attention individual leaked place names receive. Yet for a game built around exploration, geography is part of the appeal.
Players want to know what lies beyond Vice City’s skyline.
Jason Appears Throughout the Leaked GTA 6 Gameplay
The recent GTA 6 gameplay leaks have also provided several unofficial looks at protagonist Jason Duval.
One clip reportedly shows Jason attempting to play basketball. Another follows him during an encounter involving a truck driver. Additional footage shows him travelling through Leonida by car.
These are not major cinematic sequences. In many ways, that makes them more useful for understanding how the open world might feel.
Official trailers naturally focus on memorable scenes, characters and carefully selected environments. Unscripted driving or minor NPC interactions reveal a different side of a Grand Theft Auto game.
They show what players may spend much of their time actually doing.
Ordinary Gameplay Can Reveal Important Details
A simple driving sequence can expose traffic density, road design, vehicle handling and draw distance. An interaction with an NPC can provide clues about animation systems and pedestrian behavior.
Likewise, a small activity such as basketball could suggest how Rockstar is expanding optional entertainment across Leonida.
None of this confirms exactly how those systems will function in the finished game.
Development builds are constantly changing. Animations can be temporary. Physics may be unfinished. Visual effects and performance can improve substantially during optimization.
That context is essential when judging leaked footage.
CyberLeek Has Released Footage in an Unusual Way
The source behind the recent material has turned the leak into an ongoing campaign rather than releasing everything at once.
CyberLeek has gradually published clips while promoting polls about what should appear next. The operation has also become connected to a cryptocurrency token, creating controversy beyond the unauthorized GTA 6 footage itself.
Supporters have reportedly been encouraged to use the token when participating in certain votes.
This financial element has drawn skepticism, particularly because enthusiasm surrounding Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks can make fans vulnerable to scams and speculative schemes.
Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive have no official connection to the cryptocurrency associated with CyberLeek.
Anyone following the footage should keep that distinction clear.
Take-Two Is Trying to Identify the GTA 6 Leaker
Take-Two is not treating the situation casually.
The company has pursued information from online service providers as part of its attempt to identify those responsible for obtaining and distributing the footage.
Reports have described legal requests involving Microsoft and Discord, including account and technical information that could potentially help investigators trace activity connected to the leak.
The response reflects the seriousness of unauthorized access to development material.
Even when leaked clips contain no major story spoilers, a company cannot know what other files the source may possess. Confidential builds can potentially expose narrative information, internal systems and assets that were never intended for public distribution.
The Netflix GTA 6 Extended Look Is Almost Here
All of this is unfolding immediately before Rockstar’s next major official presentation.
Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look premieres on Netflix on August 27 at 3 p.m. ET. The presentation will later become available for free through Rockstar’s official channels.
Rockstar has deliberately avoided calling the presentation “Trailer 3,” which has fueled speculation that it could offer a more substantial look at the game.
Whether that means extended gameplay remains unconfirmed.
What is certain is that Rockstar now has a chance to redirect attention away from compressed development clips and toward material selected specifically for public viewing.
That difference should not be underestimated.
The GTA 6 Leaks Still Leave Major Questions Unanswered
Despite the volume of unauthorized material, surprisingly little about GTA 6’s central experience has been definitively spoiled.
Players still have major questions about police systems, combat, character switching, interiors, economy, side activities and how Jason and Lucia’s relationship shapes the campaign.
The leaked map fragments provide clues about scale. Gameplay clips reveal small pieces of Rockstar’s systems. Neither offers a complete picture.
That is why the August 27 presentation remains important.
The leaks may have taken away some surprises, but they have not replaced an official showcase. Rockstar still controls the context, presentation and quality of the footage most players will ultimately see.
For now, the alleged GTA 6 map leak gives fans more pieces of Leonida to examine. In a matter of days, Rockstar may finally show how those pieces fit together.
