GTA 6 pre orders are already showing the scale of Rockstar’s next launch, and PlayStation appears to be enjoying the strongest early momentum. According to new reports, Grand Theft Auto VI has climbed to the top of PlayStation Store sales rankings across multiple regions, with the $100 Ultimate Edition leading the charge.
That detail matters. Players are not only reserving the game early. Many are choosing the more expensive version, despite months of debate over premium pricing and digital bonuses.
Rockstar has not released official sales figures. Still, the early chart movement gives the industry a useful signal. Grand Theft Auto VI is not behaving like a normal preorder campaign. It is already behaving like a launch event.
GTA 6 Ultimate Edition Becomes the Early Favourite
The most striking part of the report is the performance of the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition. The $99.99 version is reportedly outperforming the Standard Edition on PlayStation Store charts in several major markets, including the US, UK, Canada, France, Japan, India and South Korea.
That does not prove exact sales volume. Store rankings can shift quickly, and platform holders rarely publish full preorder data. However, the direction is clear. The premium edition is not being treated as a niche option for collectors. It appears to be the version many committed fans want first.
Fans may be surprised by that, especially after the backlash around higher game prices. Yet the logic is easy to understand. GTA 6 has been in demand for more than a decade. For some players, paying another $20 for extra content feels easier than risking the feeling of missing out.
What Comes With the $100 Version?
Rockstar has positioned the Ultimate Edition as more than a simple cosmetics bundle. It includes premium vehicles, weapons, clothing and extra access tied to Jason and Lucia’s story.
Confirmed bonuses include the 1995 Grotti Cheetah, additional vehicles, personalised weapons, outfits, tattoos and exclusive in game businesses. These include custom vehicle shops, a salon, a streetwear store and a tattoo parlour. Rockstar has also listed extra activities, including a classic car collection commission and a gang compound related mission.
The important point is structure. These extras are not presented as one menu of unlocks dumped onto the player at the start. Rockstar says the content will appear across the campaign as Jason and Lucia progress through Leonida.
That makes the package feel more integrated. It also makes the Standard Edition comparison more sensitive.
The Standard Edition Still Has the Main Game
The GTA 6 Standard Edition costs $79.99 in the United States and £69.99 in the UK. It includes the main game, which follows Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval through Vice City and the wider state of Leonida.
For most players, this version should still provide the complete core experience. Rockstar has not suggested that the main story is incomplete without the Ultimate Edition.
However, perception matters. When the premium edition includes exclusive shops, vehicles and activities, players may see it as the fuller launch package. That is why its early chart performance is so important. It suggests Rockstar has found a price point that dedicated fans are willing to accept.
PlayStation Is Winning the Early Attention Battle
The report focuses heavily on PS5, and that is not accidental. Sony has given GTA 6 prominent visibility across its ecosystem. The game has appeared across PlayStation Store, console dashboards and the PS App, making it difficult for PS5 owners to miss.
This does not mean GTA 6 is a PlayStation exclusive. It launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026. Still, marketing association matters, especially with a game this large.
When casual players repeatedly see GTA 6 PS5 branding, PlayStation starts to feel like the default platform. That may influence undecided buyers, particularly those planning to upgrade hardware before launch.
Xbox Demand Is Harder to Measure
The Xbox picture is less clear. Microsoft does not share the same public ranking detail in a way that allows a simple comparison. Reports suggest GTA 6 Xbox pre orders are also strong, but there are no official numbers to confirm the scale.
This is worth remembering before turning the story into a console war. A game can dominate PlayStation charts while also performing extremely well on Xbox. Both things can be true.
Even so, PlayStation’s early visibility gives Sony a clear advantage in the public conversation. Right now, the PS5 version is the one generating the loudest retail signals.
Higher Pricing Has Not Slowed Demand
The biggest industry takeaway may be pricing. GTA 6 price discussions have been intense because the Standard Edition moves beyond the $70 norm. The Ultimate Edition reaches $100.
For many publishers, that would be risky. For Rockstar, the risk appears smaller. Grand Theft Auto has a rare level of trust and cultural weight. Players have waited since GTA 5 for the next mainline entry, and many seem ready to pay more on day one.
That does not mean every game can follow. GTA 6 is an exception, not a normal benchmark. However, other publishers will study this closely. If the $100 edition continues to lead, the premium tier model may become even more aggressive across future blockbuster releases.
A Preorder Campaign Already Making a Statement
Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026, with preloading expected to begin one week earlier. Preorder customers also receive the Vintage Vice City Pack, which adds retro themed vehicles, outfits, hairstyles and weapon styling.
The campaign is still young, and Rockstar has not shown full sales data. Yet the early pattern is hard to ignore. GTA 6 is topping PlayStation charts, the Ultimate Edition is leading demand, and the higher price has not caused the hesitation some expected.
This is the real story. Rockstar is not only selling the next GTA. It is testing how much value players attach to a complete premium launch package.
So far, the answer looks favourable for Rockstar. Very favourable.
