Rockstar has already delayed the GTA 6 release, but could a second postponement be on the way? Industry insider Jason Schreier raises concerns that the current release date may not be final.
Initial Launch Missed – New Date Set for May 2026
GTA 6 was originally expected to launch in Fall 2025. That’s no longer the case. Rockstar Games has officially pushed the release to May 26, 2026. While fans now count down to that date, some are starting to wonder: will the game be delayed again?
Jason Schreier: “May 2026 Not Guaranteed”
According to a report by Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, the May release window isn’t locked in. This warning was also echoed by PlayStation Universe, which cited Schreier’s concerns.
Several game studios with titles scheduled for late 2026 have reportedly told Schreier that they’re hoping Rockstar sticks to its plan. The reason? No one wants their game to compete with GTA 6 at launch.
Studios Divided: Fear or Opportunity
Interestingly, not all developers are nervous. Some would welcome another GTA 6 delay, as it would give them a chance to push their own games into 2027 — gaining extra development time and polishing opportunities.
Few releases in gaming history have cast a shadow as large as Grand Theft Auto VI. Competing for attention in the same release window would be a serious risk for many publishers.
New Screenshots Tease Potential Features
While uncertainty swirls around the launch date, Rockstar has released new screenshots of GTA 6, showing characters and potentially teasing a groundbreaking new gameplay feature.
Although a second delay hasn’t been officially confirmed, fans are advised to be patient. Whether GTA 6 truly launches in May 2026 remains to be seen.
